I think she was about thirteen when she started to dry her wings
Trying out new ways of thinking while she tried to plan her dreams
She lived in the city she was just another kid.

Her friends trying to make her do things she often wondered why she did Her home was an apartment up about four flights of stairs
And from the condition of the building it sure showed nobody cared
Well as fate would have it she found herself alone.

But she had herself an uncle who offered her a home.

She moved out west to a working cattle ranch and it was nothing like anything she had ever seen but she thinks she saw the bunkhouse somewhere in her dreams.

She got adjusted to the ranch life she had to ride the bus to school Hurry home to do the chores and it got her to thinking these country folks aren’t fools.

It was just the life she needed to help erase the trouble in her soul And she sure forgot the city when she saw her first rodeo
Then one bright day right after church lets out her uncle gave that girl a horse and she sure let out a shout something passed between that girl and that horse she and him had make a bond and I kinda figured that it would last a lifetime long.

Cause she now had something that she could call her own and that girl and that gray horse were together from that moment on she loved and cared for him and it never did feel wrong could it be perhaps that pony kinda helped her along.

She was at the horse show when she got a call it was about her friend in the city who had somehow was heading for al fall she thought about her past life and how here new one made her change Just as the horse show judge says first place and then calls out her name.
