The Real Hero| A Horse Story About a Stallion

My love for horses came when I was a very young girl. Their beauty, spirit, and devotion is awesome. I call them angels without wings. My angel that crossed my path, name was Boy. He was a stallion nobody could tame. One early morning it was snowing, I was 8 years old, very active. I went outside to try out my new sled, everyone in my home was still sleeping, and they had no idea I was even gone. I just wanted to try the big hill and be back before my family woke up. I had on my Pj, slippers and my fathers worn out sweater.

I hit a rock and went flying off my sled. The snow was falling, all I remember was I couldn’t move. It seemed like minutes but it must have been a couple of hours that I laid in the freezing snow. I would have died if it weren’t for this beautiful animal we called Boy. Boy was kept on our property to be trained. He was so beautiful and proud. Everyday I would talk to him from a distance. My uncle did not want me around him, fear he would hurt me. Each day I left him a treat in his stall, he knew it was from me. As I kept going in and out of unconsciousness from my injuries. Something kept nudging me, but I was to tired to get up. I never felt cold because Boy lay next to me. How he knew I was hurt, I’ll never know. All I know is he saved my life. My uncle could not believe the love Boy had for a child, me. It changed his outlook on horses. On Christmas Day, Boy had a huge bow on his back. | Christmas Horse Bows | What a wonderful gift. We became best friends. Boy and I went everywhere together. We definitely were a team. He lived his life to the fullest. Boy was put out to pasture in 1990. I miss him and will never ever forget him. I have dedicated my life to help horses that have been abused or misunderstood, and I owe it all to Boy. He’s my hero.
