Horse Tails | A Story Of An Appaloosa Horse

My mom has always loved horses! I remember driving all around the county because one of our friends horses’ was about to give birth. In fact, I don’t think there was anything in the world that she loved more, except riding them. She used to describe how free you felt, and how the world seemed to stand still. However, there was one particular moment that kept her from riding for months.

She had just finished lunging Stephanie, an Appaloosa that belonged to one of my friends. She got on her, and was going to ride around a section of land. She told me the rest because I didn’t see it.

“I don’t remember what happened. I might have been riding too close to the boys pen, or maybe the horse on the other side just didn’t like me! Anyway, I was riding on Stephanie when all of the sudden, Marvin, the only boy in the pen at the time, started running up beside us. I should have moved away then but, I was enjoying his company. After that, I can’t remember exactly what happened. The few things I do remember happened in slow motion.”

Marvin pulled her off the saddle with his teeth and tried to pull her through the fence, but he lost his hold on her. Stephanie then proceeded to step on her arm. That happened a year ago and she still has a bruise where Marvin tried to pull her in the pen. Sure it hurt her for a long time, and after a while I got tired of hearing her gripe! I don’t really mind though. It’s just another one of those things I’ve added to my list of “Horse Tails”
