Extreme Cowboy Race Results
The Extreme Cowboy Race at Equine Affaire in Pomona was won by horse trainer Robin Bond from Vista. Second place was Rick Hoffman on his horse Leroy. The Extreme Cowboy Race course was a technical challenge of broken jumps, log pulls and of course bareback riding. Craig Cameron added a new obstacle: a very long heavy pole. The rider needed to pick up one end and then ride in a circle one direction then change directions and ride a circle the other way while holding one end of the pole. The individual riders put their own spin on this with variations of backing up and cantering. Another monster obstacle was a Liverpool full of white packing peanuts. Everyone managed it, but most of the horses needed some convincing by their riders.
Bill Cameron gets the True Grit award for riding with a very badly damaged rib and still coming in 5th place.
