The Breeders’ Cup Classic is Saturday, November 5 at 6:15 PM EST. It is held at Churchill Downs in Kentucky.
As Horse races go this is a big one. Below is a helmet camera video of one of the favorites, a mare named Havre de Grace, with rider Gabriel Saez in the saddle. “It’s very similar to to the work before the Beldame that we had at Delaware Park,” said trainer Larry Jones, describing the workout as more of a gallop. “We’re not worried about fitness so much as we’re worried about handling the track. Watching the helmet cam with Gabe you could tell every time he called on her a little bit she gave him something.”

The Big event at the Equine Affaire every year is the Extreme Cowboy Race invented by Horse trainer Craig Cameron. It’s full of thrills and spills as this award winning video of the event at the LA Equine Affaire shows. It’s all about “speed with control” Cameron explains as we watch non-stop  action. Is it a Riding Adventure or a Dude Ranch?

My second visit to the Kay El Bar Guest Ranch was another all out riding adventure. This equestrian vacation is a classic southwest getaway to Wickenburg Arizona. The ranch belonged to actor Val Kilmer’s family during his youth. I renamed the black Quarterhorse I rode on Tripod because he was such an ace to film from. Our visit was only one night but I could have stayed a week. This place is magical, but don’t take my word, watch the video and go check it out. Dude, where’s my horse??

When it comes to training horses this tall Hollywood cowboy makes it look so easy.

“The fact that my last name is Cameron and the horse’s name is I’ll Cowboy Up was a sign to me to pursue Craig Cameron’s Extreme Cowboy Race. I have never had so much fun in my life with a horse as I have at the EXCA Events. With all my experience I think I was born for this event,” says seasoned Horseman Bill Cameron. Born into the horse business, Bill started as a child working alongside his father, premier Hollywood movie horse trainer, Denzel Cameron. Known worldwide and highly respected, Denzel was the man behind many animal actors. For over 25 years his family has resided in Rosamond California preparing and training Liberty Horses and Driving Horses.

Extreme Cowboy Champion Colorado Stud Horse “Hank”

Watching the Extreme Cowboy Race horses whiz around the timed and judged obstacle course  is amazing. Each well practiced team of horse and rider has a chance of winning. People from all across the nation meet for fierce and friendly competition. The national championship is a triumph of horsemanship and honestly, a stroke of good luck too.

Everyday Horsepeople Mitch and Peggy Brasington told us about their road to the Extreme Cowboy Race championship title, their trainer Daniel Harris and how the horses were raced using fishing line and a bullwhip.
