Dear Thoroughbred Friends,
Saving one Thoroughbred often leads to saving another. This came true when After the Finish Line awarded their February emergency funds. Equine organizations in California, Oklahoma, New York/Kentucky and Pennsylvania came together to help Watchem Smokey and Picaso find safe homes when their racing careers were over. We couldn’t save these Thoroughbreds without your help.
The Extreme Cowboy Race at Equine Affaire in Pomona was won by horse trainer Robin Bond from Vista. Second place was Rick Hoffman on his horse Leroy. The Extreme Cowboy Race course was a technical challenge of broken jumps, log pulls and of course bareback riding. Craig Cameron added a new obstacle: a very long heavy pole. The rider needed to pick up one end and then ride in a circle one direction then change directions and ride a circle the other way while holding one end of the pole. The individual riders put their own spin on this with variations of backing up and cantering. Another monster obstacle was a Liverpool full of white packing peanuts. Everyone managed it, but most of the horses needed some convincing by their riders.
Bill Cameron rides the last night of the Extreme Cowboy Association World Championship for the highest score of the final round.
When it comes to training horses this tall Hollywood cowboy makes it look so easy.
“The fact that my last name is Cameron and the horse’s name is I’ll Cowboy Up was a sign to me to pursue Craig Cameron’s Extreme Cowboy Race. I have never had so much fun in my life with a horse as I have at the EXCA Events. With all my experience I think I was born for this event,” says seasoned Horseman Bill Cameron. Born into the horse business, Bill started as a child working alongside his father, premier Hollywood movie horse trainer, Denzel Cameron. Known worldwide and highly respected, Denzel was the man behind many animal actors. For over 25 years his family has resided in Rosamond California preparing and training Liberty Horses and Driving Horses.
This Email came to Horse2Heart with updated action on Assenbly Bill 4X22;
Now that the auction is over it is important to understand that flawed Assembly Bill (AB 4X22) that allowed for this sale authorized the Department of General Services (DGS) to sell the OC Fairgrounds, it did not mandate that it be sold. This process has been the poster child for how NOT to sell state properties.

The Rose Parade Equestrians will be having an open house in Los Angeles, Calif. Horse2Heart will be attending the Rose Parade EquestFest Parade Horse demonstrations. It will be held Tues December 29 at 11AM in the Los Angles Equestrian Center Equidome. Parade horses need to be extremely calm by nature and trained to remain that way. Trainers will be putting the parade horses through their paces and the public is invited to watch this rare sight. Riding in the parade tests the limits of a horse’s ability to stay focused on its rider. Sometimes rose parade riders have had to ‘exit stage left’ with the help of officials when the horse they are mounted on gets overwhelmed by crowd noise and massive moving mountains of flowers. Sometimes Veterinarians can give the horse a “margarita” to mellow it out and keep them on the parade route. The EquestFest Show at the LAEC Equidome will feature demonstrations by various groups; trick ropers, Calvary, drill teams, stagecoaches, mid-evil sports and more extreme riding. We usually spot movie stars and celebrities enjoying the shows too. There will be 20 equestrians units in the 2009 Rose Parade.
