 U.S. Equestrian Federation officials have named the following horse-and-rider combinations in ranked order to the U.S. Show Jumping Team Short List for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games:

1. McLain Ward, 34, of Brewster, N.Y. on Sapphire, a 15-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare owned by the rider, Tom Grossman and Blue Chip Bloodstock

The National Reining Horse Association has just completed their Derby in Oklahoma. The world equestrian games will be hosting a western reining event. Western States Horse Expo, Sacramento CA. Western Horseman Magazine presented the Magnificent Seven All Around Stock Horse Championship Event to an appreciative crowd. This challenging equestrian event was won by Ron Emmons showing Olena Oak. The winner took home a $10,500.00 check and prizes. Ron was the man of the night alright as he also took 2nd place awards on Matt Dillion Dun It.

Magnificent 7 All-Around Stock Horse Championship Returns to Horse Expo!

This open competition is based on an event called the World’s Championship All-Around Stock Horse Contest originally initiated by Bobby Ingersoll in the 1970s and supported by the Pro Rodeo Hall of Famers Cotton Rosser and Walt Rodman. The contest was held periodically over the years until WSHE CEO and founder Miki Cohen and others resurrected the event after nearly 20 years, and gave the event a permanent home in search of the All-Around Stock Horse Champion.

In 1983 the concept of World Equestrian Games was proposed. The World Equestrian Games was created in 1990 to combine all the world’s equestrian championships into one single competition. Prior to the advent of the World Equestrian Games, each horseback riding discipline held separate world championships in different venues around the world.
