Trevor And Cinnamon| A Great Horse story
By: Vicki Kitchner
Fourteen-year-old Trevor was transferred to my classroom of disabled students. He was belligerent, disruptive and defiant. He had no interest in learning, could barely read, and was abusive to his classmates.
Trevor spent most of his time on the streets with a group of kids who had a history of violent behavior. He ran away from home for days at a time, slept in abandoned cars and terrorized anyone unlucky enough to cross his path.

A True Friendship| Horse Stories
By: Caitlin Johnson
Staring up at the striking copper mare, I could hardly believe she was finally mine. Her soft sorrel coat glimmered in the late January light. The patches of white which splashed her face, legs, and belly gave her a uniqueness which was all her own. The horse gazed back at me with gentle brown eyes, and my heart was instantly (and as I later found out, permanently) stolen by the animal who would come to be my best friend.
“Alright, Caitlin. Up you go.” I was awakened from my sweet trance by the voice of my riding instructor. Mounting the mare, I settled myself into the soft leather saddle and urged her into an easy walk. “Nice,” my instructor called from the center of the round pen. “Keep Ellie just like that as you ask her to pick up a controlled trot.”

Bucky- The Extra-Spectacular| Horse Stories About a Retired Show Horse
By: Laura and Angela Cardarelli
Howdy, my name is Angela. I would like to share a story with you about a retired show horse named Bucky. When Bucky could no longer participate in horse shows, he discovered a special way to feel useful.
Mother told me that Bucky looked spectacular in his prime seasons. She described Bucky as a tall, muscular buckskin mount with a glistening coat and shiny hooves. He had a thick black mane and a flowing, black tail. Bucky’s large bright eyes revealed his pleasant personality. Mother recalled that Bucky was respected by his pasture mates, pampered by his owner, and received countless apples from kind children. Bucky had been a willing jumper. He gracefully leaped, and he always landed gently to ensure the safety of his young riders. For many seasons, Bucky was a successful show horse. His stable was filled with blue ribbons, trophies, and photographs of the happy children he once carried.

This horse story is a lesson and at the same time an amazing one. The story tells that nothing is impossible. If you have patience, you can do anything… Just read and know “Impossible Ashley…”
Impossible Ashley Ann| Amazing Horse Stories
Author: Sara Henderson
“Dad!” My younger brother William’s voice echoed through the house as he burst into the mudroom. “I quit! I can’t work with that horse anymore. She is just not trainable!” Letting the door slam behind him, William’s frustration was evident as he flopped down to pull off his boots. No need to ask which horse he was talking about. It was Ashley Ann.
A dark bay beauty, Ashley Ann was a Percheron and Thoroughbred cross. Big for a yearling at fourteen and a half hands high, Ashley Ann was lean and leggy. She was also shy and independent. The white stripe down her face mirrored her stubborn streak. Her eyes were defiant, daring anyone to come near her. Turning on her one white foot, she left my brother William staring at her tail every time he tried to approach her.

Me and My Cece| A Horse Story About a American Saddlebred
By: Kathy Anderson
Horses have always brought out the best and worst in me. A retired American Saddlebred brood mare named Cece challenged every aspect of my personality. She had been a show horse so she knew the tricks of the trade and would proudly prance around the arena with her head high and her alert eyes catching the attention of onlookers. But like me, a professional woman who knew the tricks of my trade, was tired of doing it. So the battle would start from the time I went to halter her in her paddock. It usually took three people to catch her then she would squeal loudly as I took her away from her handsome paddock mate Wilbur, a gray Arabian. She paced the nearby arena screaming to him to rescue her.

A True Valentine Gift| A Horse Story
By: Patty Leininger
He was born on a snowy Valentines Day to our red roan halter mare Strawberry Misty. This was her first foal and already I had his future planned. He would be a beautiful halter horse as were his parents. As I looked at this fuzzy shivering red foal with the sweatshirt on, our bond was beginning. He was soft and cuddly with a curious nature. I named him Valentine Laddy and I took him to my heart.
As Laddy grew, he developed the beautiful red roan color of his mother. He was stoutly built and had a pretty sculptured head, a big kind eye and little fuzzy Quarter Horse ears. His hip was very muscular and he resembled the old style Quarter Horses.

It’s All About Love And Responsibility| A Horse Story
By: Brittany Gentry
I was nine when I got my first horse. I knew I was going to love taking care of Star, all the time! And I did, until the winter came. Each morning before school and in the evening, I had to go out and feed her.
By the time I was ten, we had moved into town and kept Star about a mile away. Even so, in the winter, it was still my job, along with my brother, to feed her morning and night. The problem was, like most kids, we were quite content to think of ourselves first, which led to us forgetting to feed Star until after dark; long after a kid wants to ride a bike clear across town; and go into a dark old barn. As you can imagine, we tumbled back out of the ’spooky’ barn as soon as possible, with her feed. We then had to break the frozen water in Star’s tub, and haul icy water in five gallon buckets, fifty yards back to the tub. We did this each night we forgot her, all winter long.

Dare To Be Patient| Inspirational Horse Stories
By: Brittany Gentry
When I was about twelve, after I had been riding for three or four years, I got the dream of every horse-loving girl. Friends offered me the opportunity to train a two-year-old gelding and a three-year-old mare.
Now, being aware of the dangers, I am amazed my parents allowed me to take on such a task. Ignorance was bliss! If I had known how dangerous unbroken horses can be, I probably would have ended my exploration in that area!
There were days I thought nothing would go right. At times, I would have loved my dad to grill a horse steak! Fortunately, I survived with nothing more than the air knocked out of me, some ripped up pants, and a slightly bruised ego.

The Magic Cookie | Miraculous Horse Stories
By: Ashley Bleas
My name is Ashley and I’m fifteen. When I was six, I suffered a near drowning. One afternoon, I was brought along with my neighbors to go fishing after my mom’s friend had died. While my neighbors were putting a worm on my hook, I had seizure and slipped into the water. When they found me I was unconscious. At the hospital my parents were told that I most likely wasn’t going to survive. I was in a coma and the doctors were unsure about massive brain damage.

Believe In Yourself And Your Dreams| An Inspiring Horse Story
By: Brittany Gentry
I had a dream of becoming acknowledged in the horse world. For years, I saved my babysitting money, and the money I earned from doing odd jobs, such as mowing, feeding animals, and watering. Finally, I was able to buy a horse of my own, something of which many kids only dream. A couple of years later I was able to buy a second horse.
I still spent most of my time dreaming about what I would do when I was able to compete. However, circumstances and finances prevented us from finding a steady trainer and competing. Since, my horses and I were not top of the line, I did not see the point in putting much effort into what I had. Then I realized that I was living in a world of dreams: dreams that would never come true.
